Operation of Valves
Never force a stuck valve — forcing a corroded or seized valve can cause breakage, flooding, or pipe damage.
Identify the main water shut-off location before operating any valve in the home.
Turn valves slowly and gradually. Rapid changes in water flow can cause water hammer and damage to pipes.
Do not operate gas valves unless specifically trained and authorized to do so.
Document any inoperable or stuck valves in your report rather than attempting to force them open.
Your safety is our priority — taking these steps can prevent dangerous situations during your inspections.
