Swimming Pools and Water Safety

Never enter a pool or spa during an inspection. All pool inspections are performed from the deck.

Test pool equipment (pumps, heaters, filters) from the equipment pad. Do not reach into skimmer baskets or main drains.

Check for required safety features: barrier fencing, self-closing gates, door alarms, and drain covers.

Note any visible electrical hazards near the pool — exposed wiring, missing GFCI protection, and improper bonding.

If the pool area is slippery, use caution on wet decking. Wear slip-resistant footwear.
